When you ask people what they want, happiness is usually one of the first answers they’ll give you. Happiness is important and everyone wants to learn the secrets to be happy. Most people are in the pursuit of happiness and want to know what it takes to be truly happy.
Have you ever asked yourself what it really takes to be truly happy and fulfilled? Is it relationship, money, success or fame?
Like many people, I also ask myself this question very often, and I think you also do the same. So what is the answer?
In all essence, happiness is something that comes from deep inside you, not something from the external world. It is something that has long been present within you. The journey of pursuing happiness is like peeling off the onion. Each layer represent your negative emotions, thoughts, fear, and self-limiting beliefs. These layers represent what you are not and as soon as you peel away these layers, you will eventually reach the core, which is who you are. You will find your purpose and the meaning of life from there.
“Happiness is not a possession to be prized, it is a quality of thought, a state of mind.” ― Daphne du Maurier, Rebecca
Happiness is a state of mind. You don’t have to look for it or chase it. The simplest way to understand this is to understand that happiness is your true nature. Happiness is a choice and you can choose to be happy without the need of external factors.
The traditional idea around the concept of happiness is that you have to possess many things to be happy. You have to live in a comfortable luxury life. However life is about change. Nothing remains the same. Your assets, your relationship and other things are not going to stay constant. Even your loved one will go away at some point in your life. Your parents will eventually die. I’m not trying to be cynical here. This is just a fact. Death, disaster and any unforeseen misfortunes will continue to disrupt what you perceive to be peace or happiness.
“Happiness depends more on the inward disposition of mind than on outward circumstances.” ― Benjamin Franklin
